If like me, you like the idea of leveraging what you already have to grow your business, you should start thinking about turning articles into an e-book that you can sell for a profit. Here are some tips on how you could do it.
First, articles that are written like essays are appropriate for e-books but a piece of information here and there will not be too useful unless you take the time to rewrite it.
You need to keep a strong outline to be able to use each article for each e-book section. This is possible but often a lot of information are redundant. When writing articles, you have to make each of them independent so you tend to repeat certain principles quite often.
In e-books, most likely you will start with the basic first and go on to the deeper level, i.e. the main content. You need to edit out a lot of information in the process. Still, articles are great sources of content for your e-book.
Another format of article that I find useful is tips or step-by-step articles. Practically, you can copy and paste the content right into the e-book and start expanding it to give more complete information.
You can structure your e-book in a way that you have a section on each chapter where you provide tips and points that you want the readers to remember.
For step-by-step articles, they fit right into the e-book where you want to explain how to do certain things. You may add details and resource, but less work is required to rewrite them.
An e-book is just a collection of article, but if you write the articles with an e-book in mind, you can reduce editing work tremendously.
Finally, some e-book authors collect their best articles into an e-book without editing at all. That certainly is a good idea, but not suitable for every kind of e-books.
